Amy Bowd's brand new Easy Riders Wheelchair

Twelve year old Amy Bowd from Stevenage, Hertsfordshire is the proud owner of a new wheelchair thanks to the Variety Club Children's Charity.

Amy, who has cerebral palsy, has a new Indoor/Outdoor Beatle Wheelchair courtesy of Variety Club's ‘Easy Riders - Wheelchairs for Children programme'.

With my old wheelchair, I felt like I had lost my legs. I could only use it indoors. Now I can go out. We have been to France and everyone knows me now at the local shops. I can go to school with my new chair.

Amy's life is so different now. She is no longer limited to being indoors. She is so independent. As a family we could not have come up with the money as the wheelchair cost £8000. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off the family's shoulders. We are ever so grateful to The Variety Club Charity and their supporters for their generosity for enabling Amy to have a busy and active life.

We are delighted that Amy and her family are able to get the most out of her new wheelchair. For over sixty years the Variety Club Children's Charity has been supporting disabled children and young people on the road to independence. Our aim is to ensure children throughout the UK have access to the most appropriate equipment to give them as independent a life as possible. We can only do this with the support of the general public. Now, more than ever, we need your support.
