Individual & Organisational Grants

Sometimes it’s the small things that make a really big difference. A specially adapted car seat costing just a few hundred pounds, for example, might mean that a family with a disabled child can finally go on simple trips and outings, as a family. The Variety Club has always welcomed applications from individuals with a specific need.

We recognise the huge demands, both emotional and financial, that caring for a sick or disabled child can make. We can’t remove that burden. But we do what we can to make life a little easier for families in difficulty by providing the vital daily items that are often overlooked and yet add up to many thousands of pounds every year – for example, bath mats and hoists, mobility equipment, learning and communication equipment, plastic sheets and feeding tubes. In the last three years, we’ve raised more than half a million pounds for individual appeals, with grants ranging from £100 to tens of thousands of pounds.

A safe place to play is important for all five-year-olds, but Barney needs a haven more than most. Asperger’s syndrome means that Barney becomes anxious and stressed very easily; he needs a calm environment where he can learn and grow while his carers manage his complex needs.

Barney’s family approached the Variety Club for help in creating a special sensory room for him at home. One of the things that really seems to work for Barney is music therapy, so the grant we gave paid for multi-sensory learning equipment including a Room Rainbow and an Electric Sunburst Guitar.

“A huge thanks to you and all those of you who helped fund Barney’s sensory room. It has made a huge difference to his life and will do over the years to come. The Variety Club is a great charity and really makes a difference to children like Barney. Despite his many difficulties he is a sweet child who has sunshine in his smiles. Many many thanks again for the great help you have given us, we can’t thank you enough.”

For Organisations

Variety Club helps suitable organisations in exactly the same way that we do individuals - any way we can. We provide day to day items to make the lives of those involved easier and as fulfilling as possible.

Many organisations also apply for our other programmes such as our Sunshine Coaches or Youth Club initiatives.
