Hotel du Vin Brighton Charity Auction
Written by James Gadsby-Peet 3rd July 2009
On the 29th June 2009, Hotel du Vin Brighton held a charity auction in aid of the Variety Club.
The night had a real summer carnival atmosphere aided by live jazz from Leroy Horns and Co., magic by Magician for the rich and famous Martin Sanderson and fun fair games donated by M-J Leisure.
The icing on the cake, however, was the appearance of CBBC superstar Chris Jarvis who acted as auctioneer. Chris did an amazing job of keeping everyone entertained and more importantly keeping them spending.
Guests arrived at 7pm and the Champagne started flowing. Everyone enjoyed the entertainment and as soon as the Champagne took effect the raffle tickets came out!
The main event started at 8pm and, due to the amount of prizes, we had to take a break half way through.
The best selling items included a day charter on the De Vere Grand's luxury yacht (£800), a B&W Zeppelin (£335) and the HdV maintenance team for a day (£275). Special thanks go to all auction bidders but particularly Nik Askaroff who spent over £2000.
The final hammer came down, and with the money taken from the bar, the raffle and the games, the grand total was a staggering £7010.
Even after the auction, despite being a Monday, many guests remained and enjoyed a drink or two, discussing what could have been if only they had raised their hand......
A massive thank you to everyone involved for this stunning total
