Variety Club's Easy Riders: Celebrating 20 Years Of Supporting Children On The Road To Independence
15th July 2008
2008 marks the 20th anniversary of Variety Club supporting children on the road to independence through its Easy Riders Wheelchairs for Kids scheme.
The Variety Club wants more children, young adults and relevant organisations from throughout Wales to apply for sports and non-sports wheelchairs to further empower disabled children throughout the UK.
Pamela Sinclair, Chairman, Easy Riders Wheelchair Committee said:
“Since 1988, The Variety Club has provided over 3,250 wheelchairs to disabled children throughout the UK. Variety Club is all too aware of the growing need from disabled children and their families for adequate mobility support. In this celebratory year, we are looking to actively increase the number of applicants we receive and our aim is to ensure children throughout the UK have access to the most appropriate equipment to give children as independent a life as possible. We encourage anyone who thinks it may apply to them to get in touch.”
The Variety Club, working in unison with each child or teenager, provides buggies, trikes, motorised and manual wheelchairs with lightweight frames that may be easier for a child to use than standard wheelchairs.
