Major General Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter

Major General Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter is the liaison Officer for the Armed Forces and his task is to foster the relationship between the Variety Club and the Armed Forces. There has been a strong link since the 1970s and it is much valued.

He arranged visits for children to military, naval and air force establishments and provides a number of auction prizes for Variety Club events.

Evelyn Webb-Carter joined the Grenadier Guards in 1964 and left in 2001, serving for 37 years. He served on active service in Northern Ireland and Bosnia. Other locations he went to include Germany, Cyprus, Kenya, Belize and Hong Kong. His last job was the General in charge of London and he was involved in all the great State occasions. He was the Chairman of the Queen Mother's 100th Birthday celebrations in 2000, for which he was knighted. His current job is Controller (Chief Executive) of the Army Benevolent Fund - www.armybenfund.org
